NEW SUNREEF 62 – A NEW DESIGN MORE MODERN

SUNREEF is launching a new version of its 62 footer. This model is really successfull with over 30 units built so far. It needed to be re-designed to look sleeker. Please find below the Press Release from Sunreef.

Gdansk, Poland – The year 2009 has brought a major change in the concept of the most successful sailing yacht from the Sunreef range – the Sunreef 62 – with over 30 units sold to date.

As a reactive response to the recent design tendencies highlighting sleek, innovative lines and the constantly higher expectations of Clients in terms of space and functionality, Sunreef’s in-house design team has introduced a number of structural and stylistic changes to the Sunreef 62, preserving the best assets of this model married to new optimised technical solutions and increased on-board comfort.

As for the exterior line, the New Sunreef 62 will have a slightly similar hull shape to the Sunreef 70 with sleek hulls and a set of two picture extended windows within the hull giving much more light and breathtaking views of the sea from all guest cabins. The general deck space has been increased by 60 cm in width, giving supreme comfort, a wider cockpit and flybridge, as well as more spacious interiors. This has also enabled all interior systems to be hidden lower than previously and positioned further from the cabins, separating guests from all possible noise and machinery.

The new feature is the mast, which has been moved from the main deck to the roof allowing the saloon to be extended by 1.5 m and the visibility to be markedly increased providing a superb 180 degree view of the sea giving great pleasure and relaxation while at the same time being highly practical for the captain operating from the interior navigation station.

The gigantic flybridge will be slightly raised and streamlined with vast possibilities of custom fitting with a selection of special furniture modules such as sun pad, barbecue, dining table with sofa and chairs, coffee table with cushions, etc., depending on the Client’s flybridge use choice and preferences. The main helm station will still remain on the fly which will also house the Sunreef original davit system for lifting/launching the tender.

A couple of changes have also been introduced in the cockpit: the aft platform has been expanded, the composite poles supporting the fly have been replaced with stainless steel pillars, the dining table has been moved to the side and significantly extended to accommodate up to 10 guests, the main sofa is longer and more comfortable and new lockers will be provided. Thanks to the wider beam, the two engine rooms will have more space for storage and better access for maintenance.

In the forward section, there will be more storage for water toys and sails. All sails have a greater surface area, which will guarantee better sailing performance.

The interiors have been subject to changes as well. The layout in the saloon and interior helm station will remain relatively unchanged with a raised galley and dinning table located next to the helm station. One of the modifications on this level will be the number of entrances to the cabins, which have been increased from two to three, one of which leads to two cabins on the port side, the other two lead to the owner suite and to the guest cabin located on the starboard, respectively. Having opted for three entrances (instead of four) allows the guests to appreciate greater intimacy whilst significantly saving space in the saloon.

As always, the Client has a choice of three possible layouts: the owner version (one hull-long owner suite, two guests cabins); semi-owner version (four cabins, one of which is the owner suite); and the charter version (four identical cabins). All cabins are now fitted with separate shower tubes and bathrooms and have large panoramic windows. All cabins possess a full wardrobe and greater storage space, an ideal option for charter guests or owners living on board on a daily basis.

The cabins in the forward section are fitted with beds positioned transversely across the the boat. All beds are king-size and have three-way access. If required, there is a possibility of installing the galley downstairs on the port side.

Aft to the port side are the full sized crew quarters with separate access directly from the cockpit to preserve the intimacy of guests. In addition to that, another crew cabin for one can be fitted in the forpeak. In summary, a crew of three can be comfortably accommodated on this yacht in all layout versions.

As for the custom finish, the Client, as always, will have the possibility of selecting their preferred equipment, design and decor.

The first unit of the NEW Sunreef 62 will be launched in 2010.
